Disney World Dubrovnik

Friday 2nd Oct

We caught the bus to the Old Town quite early, but it appeared that we were not the only ones with that brilliant idea - the place was teeming with tourists... dio bon - I wouldn't like to be here in the height of the season! The receptionist at our hotel told us that it was really easing off at this time and workers would be returning from whence they came as the work dries up.
We walked the old town wall, a distance of 2 km, lots of  stairs, great views, but very exposed and the stone made the 24 degrees feel like about 44. Walked around in the town...at ground level.. just the sort of place that Frank loves (not) lots of cafes, trinket shops and people... but I managed to keep him in there until I had seen what I wanted..... which I might say seems of less interest when you have to fight your way through stalls and hordes of people.... and of course Frank turns even more Victor-ish when faced with tiny streets with the walking space taken up with cafe tables and chairs.
Ended up getting bus back to hotel around 3, then walked around the cove we are in, lots of people enjoying the pebble beach and flat concrete platforms on top on the rocks on which to sunbathe... weird. Enjoyed a stella in a shady bar and then walked back for tea. Dinner in Hotel Vis had a touch of the Iron Curtain, staffwise, but food OK.
So strange to hear such a different language all around after Italy... I keep asking myself have I wandered into one of the "stans or Russia?

Cruiseship passing our cove first thing this morning
